A few helpful answers before you get started

What is divorce financial disclosure in California?

It's the required step where you and your spouse share your understanding of what you own, owe, earn, and spend. In California, that means filling out three forms and attaching copies of documents like tax returns and pay stubs. Onward fills in these forms for you.

Is financial disclosure required in a California divorce?

Yes. California requires financial disclosure in every divorce and legal separation. You have 60 days from the time you either filed your petition or your response to complete it. Onward prepares your side either way.

What records should I gather for my divorce financial disclosure?

Start with three things: tax returns from the last 2 years, pay stubs from the past 2 months, and anything showing what you own and owe. That can include bank, credit card, mortgage, and retirement statements. Connect your accounts, and Onward pulls in the financials for you.

Do I have to share my bank statements in a divorce?

Usually, yes. In a California divorce, you share documents that show what you own and owe, and bank statements are on the court's list of what you may need. Connect your accounts and Onward imports and categorizes balances and transactions for you.

What if my spouse won't share their financial information?

Your plan of action does not change. You still complete and serve your own disclosure. And if your spouse never completes and shares their disclosure, the courts will get involved, which often means financial penalties for your spouse.

What if I don't want to connect my accounts?

That's fine. You can upload statements from which Onward will extract your balances and transactions. Or you can enter your financial data by hand. Connecting simply saves time by pulling in the info automatically.
